Nov 11 2013 South Point Big Island

Monday nov 11 we drove to south point.  Stopped at the Hana Hou, the most southern restaurant of the US.  I had the loco moco rice and pulled pork with over easy eggs and katey had some kind of chicken with salad.

Drove back to south point enjoyed the scenic view of wind mills, farm animals and trees leaning over from constant pressure from unrelenting wind.

This year we hopped into the back of a pickup and were driven to the green sand beach where only the most determined travelers either hike the 60 minutes in the hot sun or rattle around in a truck for 25 and choke on dirt for the distinct pleasure of seeing a green beach.  The black beach was yesterday, this ones green, sort of.

Looks like a stadium carved out in the edge of a mountain from eons of erosion.  At first we were thinking of staying an hour, but quickly realized without bathing suits and a 6pack there was no need to linger, so we hopped in the back of the pickup and returned to our jeep.

On the way back to our condo in Waikoloa we stopped at Da Poke Shack on Alii Dr and ate some terrific Poke, which is raw tuna mixed with sesame oil.  Like tasty sashimi.

Next we went to a couple grocery stores to pick up stuff for dinner.  Katey and I were pretty tired at this point , but she still had to cook steaks for the family.  Ate dinner on the deck and ate ice cream inside.  Finally a relaxing end to a busy day.
