Air Canada flight departed at 1:55 pm and arrived in Mexico City at 9:00 PM. There's a 2 hour time difference. Taxi was 295 pesos. The old guy responsible for walking us to the closest van asked for a tip and seemed a bit miffed we only gave him 10 pesos. Our hotel is about a 20 minute drive from the airport. The NH Centro Historico is modest but clean and is indeed central to the many historical wonders in Mexico City.
After getting settled in we brave the unknown and venture out into the dark lifeless streets surrounding our hotel in search of a restaurant. It seems most proprietors close shop after 9PM and secure their businesses with impenetrable metallic shutter doors, creating an ominous feeling that perhaps we should be indoors. However we eventually find an open restaurant and after a lengthy attempt at communicating we finally get to eat.
